Biography
Matt Candler is an investor and entrepreneur with 30 years of experience in education and electrification startups. He helped develop coursework in education innovation while a student at the Kellogg School of Management then went on to lead early expansion efforts at KIPP, the largest charter school network in the US. In 2006, he became CEO of New Schools for New Orleans, a key player in the development of one of the nation's most innovative public school systems. In 2010, Matt founded 4.0, the largest early-stage education and learning tech incubator in the US. His interest in electrification and the energy transition began 19 years ago when he started building electric motorcycles, some of which have been featured on TV and in books on the future of transportation. An active angel/family office investor in energy since 2019, Matt now serves as GP at The Batteries Included Fund https://batteriesincludedfund.com. He’s also an active advisor and early supporter of New Orleans Community Lighthouse, one of the largest micro-grid networks in the US.
