Biography

Harris Jones has had an extensive career in telecommunications, entrepreneurship, venture capital, and international enterprise leadership roles. He spent 5 years as an Operating Partner with Adams Capital Management, the Pittsburgh region’s largest venture capital firm. Harris is also Managing Director of Swallow Point Ventures, a Pittsburgh based technology growth investor. SPV targets capital efficient digital technology businesses and has investments in SAAS software, IT, mobile, energy, and mobile companies.

Prior to moving to Pittsburgh, he was the CEO of Cable & Wireless International operating from London, UK. CW is a full service telecommunications operator operating in over 33 countries across 5 continents. Preceding that role, he was CEO of T-Mobile in the UK where he led the turnaround of that business by doubling revenue from $2.5 billion to nearly $6 billion in 3 years. While leading T-Mobile, he launched and chaired Virgin Mobile, UK in partnership with Richard Branson’s Virgin brand. In the late 1990’s, he was part of the senior management team of Omnipoint Communications, a pioneering wireless operator operating primarily in the Northeast USA. He was part of the original management team of American Personal Communications, a wireless start-up that launched the first digital wireless service in the USA. He also had two earlier start-up experiences in paper-recycling and wine importing.

He has served on the boards of Containership, Inc., ShowClix, SnapRetail, Tiversa, Additech, Uplogix, InternetQ, Cable & Wireless PLC, Virgin Mobile, Monaco Telecom, Cable & Wireless Barbados, CTM Macau, and mBlox. Harris has been actively involved in the Pittsburgh regional public media community as a Chairman of the WYEP board of directors and played a key role in shaping the acquisition of WDUQ 90.5 (now WESA), the regional NPR/BBC affiliate.

He has a BA degree from Tulane University in Public Policy, and an MBA from the Darden School of the University of Virginia. Based in Sewickley, PA he is married, has 4 children and enjoys virtually all team sports, skiing, climbing, woodworking, travel and fine wine.
