Biography
Gary Owens is CEO of Mesa Laboratories (NASDAQ: MLAB) a diversified provider of Life Science Tools serving biopharmaceutical and clinical genomics segments. He has a deep background in strategy, sales & marketing, M&A, company integration, culture building, operations, regulatory compliance, and capital markets. He had led businesses from $40M to $500M in revenue. Previous experience at Danaher as Manager, Integration Lead, and Business Development with Pall, Beckman Coulter Dx and Beckman Life Sciences. Early career spent with Bain & Company, Trilogy Software, and Accenture with a focus on commercial strategy, commercial execution, and M&A programs. Technical experience lies in analytics for proteins, cells, genomics as well as chemical, and physical parameters in biopharmaceutical research, development and bioprocessing as well as clinical diagnostics. He possesses market level understanding in biotherapeutics based on proteins and most developing modalities in gene therapy, cell therapies, rNA/oligo therapies, peptides, stem cells, ADCs, etc.
Mr. Owens joined us in March 2017 as our Chief Operating Officer. From 2006 through March 2017, Mr. Owens served in various leadership positions at Danaher Corporation and its subsidiaries. From 1998 to 2006, Mr. Owens served in various product management, sales and business development roles for Canon Incorporated and Trilogy Software. From 1994 to 1998, Mr. Owens was a team leader for Bain & Company. Mr. Owens received his BSE in Mechanical Engineering from Tulane University in 1990 and his Master of Business Administration degree from Columbia Business School in 1994.
Mr. Owens has extensive experience in business development (including acquisitions and subsequent integrations), business management, and championing continuous improvement and lean initiatives, while driving operational improvements. He provides the Board with significant experience in driving improvements in Mesa's existing business, implementing the Mesa Way, and in maturing our business development program.
