Innovation Day


Tulane Innovation Day, presented by the Tulane Innovation Institute in partnership with the Taylor Center for Social Innovation and Design Thinking, is part of New Orleans Entrepreneur Week 2026. This free event on March 11, 2026 is open to the entire community and will feature inspiring speakers, panel discussions, and competitions showcasing innovative ideas and successful entrepreneurs. 

Attendees can expect practical advice on starting ventures and insights into investment opportunities within New Orleans' startup ecosystem.

Keynote Speaker | Brett Hurt & Tulane Ventures Seed Fund Presentation
The Tulane Innovation Institute welcomed the CEO and Co-founder of data.world and author of the startup bible, The Entrepreneur's Essentials, to commence the day. Watch the interview between Brett Hurt and President Michael A. Fitts here.
 
A panel discussion featured Andrea Turner Moffitt (Future Heights Ventures), Kalen Hall (Informuta), Rebekah Gee (Nest Health), and Brett Hurt (CEO and Co-founder of data.world and author of "The Entrepreneur's Essentials) discussing venture funding in Louisiana. Watch the video here.

Tulane changemakers were provided live feedback on their business ideas with social or environmental impact.

Tulane Innovation Institute $50K Demo Day
Aspiring entrepreneurs from Tulane and the New Orleans area competed for startup funding at this pitch competition, which offered a top prize of $25,000, a second-place prize of $15,000, and a third-place prize of $10,000. Read more about the 2025 winners. The day concluded with a celebration of entrepreneurship featuring networking and refreshments.
