The National Institutes of Health and the National Science Foundation operate special grant opportunities for small businesses and the development of technologies. These opportunities, operated in partnership with the Small Business Administration, provide vital funds via two major mechanisms: Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR).
